Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 30, 2026
Last Updated: August 30, 2026
1. Introduction
MI Division ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Altimeter Barometer GPS Prof mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled when you use our App. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.
The App is a fully offline instrument. It does not request the internet permission, contains no networking code, and therefore cannot transmit any data off your device. There are no accounts, no servers operated by us, no advertising, and no analytics, tracking, or crash reporting services of any kind.
2. Information We Collect
We do not collect any information. The App processes the following data entirely on your device, and none of it is ever sent to us or to anyone else.
a. Location Data
With your permission, the App reads your device's precise and approximate location from Android's built-in location providers (GPS/GNSS and the system network provider) to deliver its core functionality: satellite altitude readings, the MGRS, UTM, USNG, Plus Codes, Maidenhead, and latitude/longitude coordinate readouts, ground speed, and the position stamped on each point of a recorded GPX track. Location is processed in memory and, while you are recording, written to a track file on your own device. It is never uploaded. Location access is optional: if you decline the permission, the App continues to work as a barometric altimeter with pressure readings, QNH calibration, the elevation graph, and unit conversion, but coordinate readouts and GPX track recording will be unavailable.
b. Foreground Service and Notifications
When you start a GPX track recording, the App runs an Android foreground service so that logging continues with the screen off, and shows an ongoing notification displaying your current altitude, total ascent, and elapsed time. This requires the location and notification permissions. The service stops when you stop the recording. No data leaves the device at any point.
c. Sensor Data
The App reads your device's barometric pressure sensor, where one is present, to calculate altitude and to display atmospheric pressure. Sensor readings are used only for live display and for the on-screen elevation graph. No permission is required for this sensor and the readings are not stored beyond the current session, except as part of a GPX track you choose to record.
d. Content You Create in the App
Your recorded GPX tracks, saved reference points and calibration records, and your unit, coordinate format, display, and tracking preferences are stored only in the App's private storage on your device. This content is not transmitted to us or to any third party unless you deliberately share it yourself using your device's share function — for example, sending a GPX file to an email or messaging app of your choosing. In that case the data goes only where you send it, and the receiving app's own privacy policy applies.
e. Android Backup
The App uses Android's standard Auto Backup feature. If backup is enabled in your device settings, your App preferences and saved reference points may be copied to your own Google Drive account so they can be restored on a new device. This backup belongs to you and is governed by Google's terms; we have no access to it. Recorded GPX files are held in temporary storage and are not included in backups. You can turn Auto Backup off at any time in your device settings.
f. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, device identifiers, advertising ID, contacts, photos, videos, audio, messages, calendar, files, health or fitness data, app usage data, or web browsing history. The App contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, and no crash reporting SDK.
3. Third-Party Services
The App integrates no third-party services, software development kits, or APIs. It does not hold the internet permission, so it cannot contact any server, including ours. All altitude fusion, coordinate conversion, and track logic runs locally using components built into the Android operating system.
The App is distributed through Google Play. Your download and payment are handled by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy. This relationship exists between you and Google; we receive no personal information from it.
4. How Your Information Is Used
The data described above is used on your device only to:
- Display your altitude, atmospheric pressure, coordinates, and speed
- Combine barometric and satellite altitude for a more stable reading
- Draw the live elevation profile and ascent/descent totals
- Record GPX tracks and export them at your request
- Convert coordinates into the grid formats you select
- Remember your calibration, units, and display preferences
Your information is never used for advertising, profiling, or personalisation, and it is never used to build a profile of you.
5. Payments
The App is a one-time paid purchase. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no advertising. Payment is processed entirely by Google Play at the time of download; we never receive, see, or store your payment card details. Refunds are handled by Google Play in accordance with Google Play's refund policy.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your information with anyone. We cannot: the App has no network access and we operate no servers that receive data from it. The only way data leaves your device is when you personally export or share a file using your device's share function, and in that case you choose the recipient.
7. Data Security
Everything the App creates is held in the App's private storage, which is not readable by other apps on a non-modified device, and is protected by your device's own lock screen and encryption. Because nothing is transmitted, there is no data in transit to intercept. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Because we do not operate accounts or servers that hold your data, we retain nothing about you to delete. All data the App creates — GPX tracks, saved reference points, calibration records, and settings — is stored locally on your device and is retained until you remove it. You can delete saved reference points within the App, and remove everything at once by clearing the App's storage in your device settings or by uninstalling the App. Exported GPX files that you have already shared or saved elsewhere are under your control and must be deleted from wherever you placed them.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and in fact the App collects no personal information from any user. If you believe a child has used the App in a way that concerns you, all data can be removed by clearing the App's storage or uninstalling it.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your personal data
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent — including by revoking the location permission in your device settings
Because we hold no data about you and the App stores everything on your own device, you can exercise all of these rights directly, as described in Section 8. To ask us anything about these rights, please contact us at the email address below.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability
The App and all information, content, and features are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MI Division disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MI Division shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (a) your use or inability to use the App; (b) any unauthorized access to or use of your device; (c) any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in the App's content or functionality, including but not limited to altitude, barometric pressure, QNH calibration, vertical speed, ground speed, MGRS, UTM, USNG, Plus Codes, Maidenhead or latitude/longitude coordinates, bearing and distance calculations, or recorded GPX track data; or (d) any other matter relating to the App.
The App is intended as a supplementary tool only and must not be relied upon as a primary source for navigation, aviation, positioning, or any location- or altitude-critical decision. It is not a certified aviation instrument and must not be used for flight operations. Barometric altitude depends on correct QNH calibration and changes with the weather; satellite positioning accuracy varies with device hardware and environmental conditions. Users are solely responsible for verifying all information provided by the App through independent means.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
